Not sure if this spindle is fast enough for what I'm using it for - get a lot of chatter when cutting wood at low speeds - but I've not had a chance to look into that. It is very quiet compared to my old wood router. I'm going to buy a tachometer to check the speed at some point. Solid build quality - it's nice and heavy. It is causing some electrical interference though - keeps firing off my limit switches (which my old router didn't) - my CNC is home made. I'm sure all these things can be worked out though - if your after a cheap spindle for your CNC - you can really go wrong with this.

Q: is it powerful enough to cut through 20mm xps board ? I would like to use it in cutting shapes

julien.morris.personal I would doubt that - I use it to cut 3.6 mm ply - thats at 3mm per second at .5 and 1 mm depth.

Q: What sort of cutting power does it have? Will it cut thin plywood?

julien.morris.personal Yes- it will cut 3.6mm ply - slowly ! You'll need two passed at 3mm per second feed rate, first cut a .5mm, second at 1mm. I've done lots of that. You'll need to ensure the ply is flat, it's not very forgiving - I assume that's because the focal length is small.

I absolutely love this - my missus was amazed and couldn't work it out - It's not as loud as people say - you could sit close to someone and they are unlikely to hear it - it's slightly less than a mobile phone vibration held in your hand. Have the radio on in the background. My grandchildren are going to be stunned - it's also going to my xmas works party. I'm thinking about buying 3 more and making something so it looks as though they are holding it together - then the victim could have free choice of which on to perform my magic on ! Highly recommended.
