I didn't get the two units I had ordered connected to the latest version of Arduino IDE (started on Win 7 and went then to Win10), neither as ATmega328P (chipset is under Duemilanove) with DIP 3,4 ON nor ESP8266 (after installing the board package) with DIP 5,6,7 on (tried generic and the two MCU options). The CH340G is a cheap USB adapter and you will have to install a driver, dating back from 2014. Even then it doesn't connect and times out. After 4 hours of researching, finding out it's a common and doing a fair share of experimenting to come up with a solution, I am giving up. Otherwise the SMD/soldering quality would have been excellent, print is tiny but legible and sufficient, blue and green LEDs work, it establishes some kind of connection to USB but there is no data transfer, to both chips if you were thinking going with the ESP instead as a plan B. I will stick with units that are exactly listed in the IDE, or YMMV.

Q: Hi, i just purchased this item but i cant seem to upload a sketch for arduino. I have installed/selected the ESP8266 generic board, the port is visible (COM 8 - usb-serial ch340) Is that the way to do it? Dipswitch: 0000111(X) (factory settings) : No erros, but doesnt work. Dipswitch: 1100000(X) (Mega328+ESP8266 MODE) : Errors (think this IS wrong) Dipswitch: 0011000(X) (CH340 connect to ATmega328 MODE) : It times out error: Failed to connect to ESP8266: Timed out waiting for packet header (and a lot more) Thanks in advance :)
