Q: Do i need to secure them with the screws for it to stay stable? As i cannot get underneath my top it would be impractical to have to screw them from the under side.

Gwyndaf You don’t have to but they hold better if you do I use mine for holding things on my mft top to sand. So doesn’t need much clamping force. Works fine like that
