joemac I had 1 of 3 exhibit some noise . Useable for sure, but maybe not at night in the bedroom. The other two are completely quiet!

I bought the identical unit lacking the line in jack a few months back, and was happy with the product. This one is the same, albeit with an on/off switch (very useful) and a line in jack. The amp pushes a high frequency buzzing noise into the audio, making it completely incapable of silence. Whether the board I have is faulty or the design is flawed, I'm not sure.

joemac Carefully examine photos! I was able to figure out the orientation by the pictures.Measure each resistor! I found it is actually faster. Don't even try to read them...The adjustment of the caps is so easy and non-critical,,, look at the test signal and dial up squarest wave you can and put it back together. Hey a good power supply is important , 9 volts is great, 8.4 is OK ... over 10 and you will end overheating the regulator. A dedicated small ac adapter is perfect.

I just finished building it so here're my impressions from the build procedure: The manual does *NOT* specify the direction parts should be facing towards nor can it easily be seen from the images which is quite easy to get wrong since the main board has to be soldered on two sides; I the test knob on the wrong side of the board, then II managed to get the rotary switch board assembled upside down
