Right out of the box, the 3G gyro-only mode worked like a charm, and the 6G mode would make this great for beginners!: Even on a fairly windy day, this tiny plane just wanted to Go! This Cartoon FATTY is "cool". It is not a beginners plane though. The 6 Axis gyro works well but it is underpowered. Being able to power out of beginner mistakes is quite important and it only has the power required to maintain flight and climb a bit. I have only flown a couple times and am working on getting more UP elevator by adjusting the elevator rod and clevis. I had to use power to climb but at full power the turn radius is large but if you throttle back and slow down the turn radius gets much better BUT at slower speeds the plane descends in the tighter turns, arghh. I have found it to be a hand launch and "Crash Land" only affair. To its credit it handles the tumble on landing quite well and with full power it handles a hand launch well also. I would not buy it for a beginner but as novice that is in love with the F4U Corsair or the intermediate flyer that want some fun with a FATTY Cartoon plane it is a good buy. Obtw, with the 6 Axis Gyro turned off it increases the flight envelope by quite a bit. It is very sensitive to controls and a handful to try to make it fly smoothly. Here is another place where more power would be welcome to recover from over controlling. I was able to get it to loop but it needs altitude to help as it can not complete a loop from level flight. Aileron rolls were easy starting with a little nose up or it will bury the nose coming out and without more elevator, beware of your altitude. Fun but not easy or scale.
