Connecting to my home's wifi worked at the first attempt and the Blynk setup showed it online inmediately, You must add a jumper in order to upload your sketches from Arduino IDE. The jumper is needed at reset time (when you insert on a pc, or power up), to enter the correct mode (running or flashing). To run the sketch you remove the jumper and re-insert on the USB port. I had some difficulties with the baud rate on the serial port. On Windows 10 I had to install a driver but then on the device (COM4 for me) properties I had to fiddle with the baud rate to make it match the module's. I love how tiny this module (ESP8266) is, keep in mind that it uses 3.3 V so you should put resistors when connecting Arduino UNO pins to the ESP8266. The USB adapter is great, works perfectly and avoids you to mess with Arduino UNO for uploading sketches or monitoring debug messages from the serial port. I chose this model to save money but it has a very very limited number of IO pins, so it's perfect to get wifi connectivity, specially on IoT projects. Spending a bit more you can get modules with many IO pins, if that's the requirement. The USB adapter is needed only when connecting to the pc (upload, debug) otherwise the module is independent, you have only to ensure a correct power supply (3.3V).
