I know why everyone raves about these radios online. These are fabulous little radios to have with a FCC HAM License. They are cheap and more than powerful enough to get started and listen in on what is going on in your area. I've been able to hit a repeater up to 15 miles away from my location and be understood by others on the repeater. While they don't have the advanced features or digital voice capabilities of the newer radios these are a great way to get into the Amateur Radio hobby.
