It’s simply a wonderful drone, and I love it with all my heart. Of course, the obstacle avoidance doesn’t work the way we would hope, but come on—you can’t expect miracles from a drone that costs 300 dollars (about 250 pounds). You just have to be careful while flying: rely more on your own attention than on the obstacle avoidance system. When using return-to-home or landing, always bring it back above your position at around 80 meters first, and then descend. Never rely on it coming in at 10–5 meters, always stay higher—that way you’re safe from crashing into something. The obstacle avoidance often sees objects that don’t exist and reacts suddenly. This is actually the second drone I’ve owned where the obstacle avoidance behaves like this. Even when flying past something at 8–10 meters, it sometimes reacts violently to phantom obstacles. I assume those sudden movements happen because the system is detecting things that aren’t really there. That said, apart from this flaw, the AE30 is a fantastic drone: great photo quality, very stable in flight, long battery life. A wonderful purchase—I honestly recommend it with all my heart.
